MoU to support exporter readiness and help cotton textile businesses access international markets through e-commerce
Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Cotton Textiles Export Promotion Council (TEXPROCIL) to support e-commerce exports from India’s cotton textile sector. The agreement was signed during Bharat Tex 2026 in New Delhi in the presence of Dr. Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL.
The partnership will focus on helping cotton textile manufacturers, exporters and TEXPROCIL members expand their international business through Amazon Global Selling. It will also aim to improve exporter readiness and strengthen access to global markets.
India’s cotton textile industry supports millions of farmers and thousands of manufacturers. The country is also among the world’s leading exporters of home textiles, including bedding, bath linen, kitchen linen and home furnishing products.
Amazon and TEXPROCIL to Conduct Exporter Programmes
Under the collaboration, Amazon India and TEXPROCIL will conduct awareness and seller enablement programmes for exporters. The initiatives will help businesses understand international demand, cross-border trade processes and selling through Amazon’s global marketplaces.
Siddhartha Rajagopal, Executive Director, TEXPROCIL, said, “India’s cotton textile industry is globally recognized for its quality, craftsmanship, and manufacturing capabilities. E-commerce exports are rapidly emerging as one of the most significant growth opportunities for Indian textile businesses, enabling manufacturers to reach customers directly, diversify beyond traditional export channels, and build global brands. We are already seeing an increasing number of Indian home textile and apparel brands successfully expand their international presence through e-commerce. Through this collaboration with Amazon Global Selling, we aim to equip our members with the knowledge, tools, and ecosystem support needed to capitalize on this opportunity and accelerate their growth in international markets.”
Srinidhi Kalvapudi, Head, Amazon Global Selling, India, said, “India’s textile industry has long been one of the country’s strongest export sectors, with manufacturers producing world-class products that are sought after by customers around the world. Categories such as bedding, bath, and home furnishings continue to see strong demand across Amazon’s international marketplaces, creating significant opportunities for Indian exporters to reach global customers. Through our collaboration with TEXPROCIL, we aim to help more cotton textile exporters harness e-commerce exports to build global brands and grow internationally. As global demand grows for quality, authenticity, and traceability, we see a significant opportunity for Brand India to further strengthen its position as a trusted source of high-quality, premium textile products. This collaboration is another step towards our goal of enabling $80 billion in cumulative ecommerce exports from India by 2030.”
The initiative will include online and offline workshops, awareness sessions and ongoing guidance for exporters. Training will also be provided to nominated TEXPROCIL representatives, along with educational resources on cross-border e-commerce and offline seller communities to encourage knowledge sharing.
TEXPROCIL to Identify Export-Ready Businesses
Under the MoU, TEXPROCIL will identify export-ready businesses, connect manufacturers with prospective sellers and share Amazon Global Selling resources through its communication channels.
The two organisations will also explore opportunities for central and state policy support to strengthen e-commerce exports, with Amazon contributing industry insights.
India’s textile sector recorded steady growth in FY 2025-26 despite global economic challenges. Total textile exports, including handicrafts, increased 2.1 per cent, rising from Rs 3.10 lakh crore to Rs 3.16 lakh crore.
Representing around 2,000 companies across key textile clusters, TEXPROCIL will work with Amazon India to help more cotton textile businesses expand their global reach through e-commerce.
