Sebastian Herkner-designed range combines contemporary bathroom solutions with Japanese-inspired aesthetics

Duravit has introduced Zencha, a bathroom collection designed by internationally recognised designer Sebastian Herkner, drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese tea ceremonies and onsen bathing culture.

Designed to combine contemporary bathroom functionality with minimalist design principles, the collection includes washbasins, furniture, mirrors and bathtubs intended to create coordinated bathroom interiors.

Japanese-Inspired Washbasins

The Zencha collection features above-counter basins inspired by handcrafted Japanese tea bowls. Manufactured using Duravit’s DuraCeram® material, the basins incorporate rounded contours, outward-sloping rims and integrated drain covers with overflow protection.

The basins are available in square and rectangular formats with finishes including White, White Silk Matt, Grey Silk Matt and Anthracite Matt. Duravit also offers a lifetime warranty on Zencha ceramic products.

Bathroom Furniture and Storage

Complementing the ceramic range, the collection includes modular shelving and drawer units featuring slim 6 mm frames, tip-on opening mechanisms and soft-closing technology.

Furniture finishes include Natural Oak, Black Oak, White Flat Glass and Black Textured Glass, while anti-fingerprint surfaces are designed to simplify maintenance.

Mirrors with Smart Lighting

Zencha also incorporates a mirror designed to match the collection’s rounded basin forms. The mirror features an integrated LED light strip that can be controlled through a built-in sensor or the Casambi smart lighting application, allowing users to adjust lighting according to their preferences.

Freestanding Bathtubs

The collection includes freestanding bathtubs manufactured from DuroCast Plus. Available in compact square and larger rectangular formats, the bathtubs are designed with softly rounded profiles inspired by traditional Japanese bathing.

Selected models are available with an optional Whirl Air System, which provides a massage function.

Coordinated Bathroom Solutions

According to Duravit, the Zencha collection is designed to integrate with the company’s Happy D.2 toilets and bidets as well as the SensoWash® Starck f shower toilet, enabling coordinated bathroom layouts across residential and hospitality projects.
