The only global sourcing event of its type, Source Home & Gift, will be held at NEC Birmingham from September 1–4, 2024. It has highlighted social enterprises that enable small artisan craftsmen worldwide to promote their distinctive skills.

The September exhibition will feature social enterprises that support regional communities and artisans, as well as a new ‘Makers’ section that will provide a special area for artisan manufacturers. Supporting small-scale artists worldwide, with an emphasis on developing nations, is one of Source Home & Gift’s distinctive offerings.

The goal of Sumaq Qara is to assist Peruvian women who have been victims of domestic abuse and terrorism. They use natural wools and fibers to create a broad range of knit, embroidered, crocheted, and macramé items. Founded in 2006, Sumaq Qara—which translates to “Beautiful Leather” in Quechua—aims to assist over 500 women who suffered from psychological and physical assault during the terrorist period. Having been in the export business for over 15 years, they provide a large range of products created with traditional methods like knitting, crocheting, macramé, and embroidery using natural fibers like cotton, alpaca, merino, and sheep’s wool.

The goal of Claybotik is to bring back to life the ancient craft of stoneware pottery by giving local craftspeople a job as they produce handcrafted ceramics with modern patterns derived on traditional Indian designs. Based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, Claybotik honors the oldest and most popular form of ceramic art and is fervently committed to uplift the artisan community. Zero-waste production together with reduction, reuse, and recycling are also highlighted in the business model. “Zero waste also helps to examine the life cycle of a product or material,” claims Claybotik. We retrieve all of the clay at our studio.

Beyond Borders Fair Trade, formerly known as Extol Accessories, has been collaborating and supporting Haitian artists in Croix-des-Bouquets for fifteen years. Through the production and dissemination of their exquisite artwork, the artists have improved lives and real economic progress. To highlight the extraordinary talent and handcrafted items of the artist, an exhibition of new creations will be held at Source Home & Gift. “We love the constant exchange & blossoming of new product & design ideas,” states Beyond Borders. Most significantly, the production and dissemination of their exquisite art results in genuine economic growth and improved lives. This success is a result of a genuine collaboration between Beyond Borders, the Haitian artists, you, our shop partners, and your customers—who come to appreciate this work of art and become part of its narrative.

“Hand-picked exhibitors chosen for the quality of their items and their authentic community stories is incredibly inspiring,” says Suzanne Ellingham, Event Director of Source Home & Gift. Our goal is to produce an exhibition of exquisite, well-made goods that, quite literally, don’t cost the planet and enable their makers, whether they live in factories or villages, to make a good living. I’m overjoyed that our UK buying community finds our efforts in creating a platform for ethical sourcing in the UK and Europe to be of such high quality.

With Source Home & Gift, the globe comes to the UK as a more convenient, affordable, and efficient way to find out what’s popular as well as to create and source new materials and goods. The retail industry’s must-attend event is Source Home & Gift, whether you’re seeking for toys, gifts, furniture, home goods, packaging services, or any other related items. The program brings together prominent retailers, designers, and manufacturers from around the world who are searching for innovative items that can be sourced sustainably and responsibly.

The upcoming edition of the event is anticipated to feature over 460 manufacturers, making it the largest to date. Registration is now open. In order to give buyers the assurance that they will be dealing with suppliers who follow ethical business practices, all exhibitors at Source Home & Gift are required to have a current audit from Sedex or a reputable auditing organization. Additionally, the exhibitors collaborate with international governments and agencies to bring top-tier manufacturers and artisan producers to the UK to showcase their skills.

Although there is a designated entry in Hall 18, Autumn Fair attendees can still use the crossover area for free.

Source Home & Gift will be held at NEC Birmingham from September 1st to 4th.
