Molteni&C has furnished a private villa in Battersea, South London. The residence combines British architectural heritage, Indian cultural influences and Italian design. Palazzo Molteni Milano curated the interiors to reflect the owners’ lifestyle and personal tastes.
The villa belongs to an Indian couple who met in New York before settling in London. The design brings together elegance, functionality and cultural identity.
Contemporary Design Meets British Architecture
The villa retains the character of a traditional British townhouse. However, the property has been expanded to include a former banana warehouse. This transformation creates a light-filled home inspired by Tropical Modernism.
The interiors feature interconnected split levels, natural light and garden views. Wooden walls also help define different areas while maintaining visual continuity.
Molteni&C Furniture Defines the Interiors
The ground floor serves as the main social space. The VVD Kitchen by Vincent Van Duysen forms its focal point. The living area features the Marteen sofa and 505 system by Molteni&C.
Woody stools by Francesco Meda complement the kitchen island. Meanwhile, the dining area features the Half a Square table by Michael Anastassiades and Devon chairs by Rodolfo Dordoni.
The lower floor includes a private gym and sauna. On the upper floors, the bedrooms and bathrooms provide private retreats. The master suite features the Aldgate bed and Gliss Master wardrobe system with glass doors.
Indian Heritage Shapes the Design
The interiors include soft pink accents that reflect the owner’s preferences. A dedicated prayer room also incorporates delicate pink tones.
Outside, the garden extends the home’s social spaces. A traditional tandoor oven and a barbecue area support outdoor dining and gatherings.
The project brings together British architecture, Indian heritage and Italian furniture design. It presents a contemporary approach to residential living through carefully selected materials, furniture and personal details.
