Creative Matters x Reddie collaboration introduces handwoven rugs crafted by Afghan artisans

A new rug collection titled Vista has been launched through a collaboration between Creative Matters and Reddie, featuring custom handwoven solid rugs made using sustainably sourced wool and traditional Afghan weaving techniques.

The Creative Matters x Reddie collection debuted during Clerkenwell Design Week at Reddie’s newly opened London showroom, where selected pieces from the Vista collection are also being displayed.

The rugs are handwoven by artisans in Afghanistan, with production taking place both in small community weaving centres and within the artisans’ homes. According to the companies, the initiative supports employment opportunities and social engagement for Afghan women, many of whom are the primary earners for their families.

The collection uses locally sourced Ghazni wool from mountainous sheep and incorporates 45×45 Persian knot construction. Available sizes include 8’x10′, 9’x12′, 10’x14′, 12’x15′, along with custom sizing options.

The designs combine modern cityscape-inspired aesthetics with the textured appearance created through traditional knotting methods and natural wool materials.

The Vista collection includes nine designs — Promenade, Plaza, Skyline, Horizon, Boulevard, Acreage, Summit, Avenue and High Street — each of which can be customised in colour and size through Reddie Furniture.

The collection features geometric colour blocking, clean borders, and subtle patterns integrated into hand-knotted wool surfaces produced by experienced artisans.

Founded in 1988 in Toronto, Creative Matters develops hand-knotted rug collections and bespoke fair-trade floor coverings for clients across more than 40 countries.
